Educational Programs for Kids

 

 

Grades K-2

This program focuses on children's interactions and cohesion, discussions include topics of personal space, differences between people, sharing and relationship bullying. We discuss the difference between reporting and "tattling".

TAB staff leads an interactive time where they use examples and situations from Dr. Cerullo's children's books as object lessons. Children are encouraged to partcipate and ask questions.

Grades 3-5

This program begins with a video of a bullying altercation and the thoughts of their peers. The students thoughts on bullying are discussed. We then lead the group in interactive discussion that allows the children to understand and share how bullying makes them feel, define bullying, describe the many types and forms, and the differences between behaviors that can be mistaken for bullying. We discuss consequences of bulling and the nature of reporting bullying in the school. We introduce texting and cyberbullying issues with this age group as well as discuss children with hidden disabilities.

Grades 6-8

This interactive program begins with TAB staff sharing current news stories on bullying victims and bullies. We conduct:

  • Guided discussion of bullying focus areas such as definitions of bullying
  • Explain and clearly differentiate bullying vs. non-bullying behaviors
  • Discuss consequences of bullying and how to report bullying
  • Cyber-bullying and impact of social media
  • Current laws and how they apply to physical and cyber-bullying

The program is meant to empower the children and support their understanding and how to apply what they've learned. The students are then asked to participate in an essay contest and the top three winners will win awards.

Grades 9-12

This interactive program begins with TAB staff sharing current news stories on bullying victims and bullies. We conduct:

  • Guided discussion of bullying focus areas such as definitions of bullying
  • Explain and clearly differentiate bullying vs. non-bullying behaviors
  • Discuss consequences of bullying and how to report bullying including more cause and effect action-reaction scenarios
  • Cyber-bullying, hidden applications, impact of social media
  • Current laws and how they apply to physical and cyber-bullying and their impact as they transition from school aged to adults including jail time, sexual harrassment, underage pornography and other serious crimes.

The program is meant to empower the young adults, support their understanding and how to apply what they've learned.
